Travel Activity Recs!
Summertime often means road trips…and what better way to make a road trip with kiddos more fun than to be prepared? You’ve come to the right spot for all our tried and true recommendations from a former not-so-enthusiastic traveler. The following are how I have kept us all sane, satisfied and smiling on our long trips! You can get all of these items with one click on Amazon. (Using these links does bring me a small commission at no cost to you:)
We use a lot of these in our restaurant bag for when we go out and want something engaging while we wait to eat! So even if you’re not taking a road trip this summer, take a look and see if there’s anything in here you could add to make your everyday life just a little more fun!
We love magnetic stuff, even if there is nothing magnetic near their car seat, you can bring along a small cookie sheet for them to build magnatiles or stick other magnets on! Here are some links for more magnetic fun:
Mini magnet tiles with a carrying/storage case that is also magnetic- no need for a cookie sheet! All other magnet toys can be used with these!
These little magnetic guys are bendy and fun to add to any magnetic playscape or play with on their own, sometimes we have found a spot on a plane or train that these stick to. Here are some similar robots that we liked too.
Travel tangrams with a magnetic board all in a neat little package, easy to store in the car or put in a kiddo’s road trip backpack
A different kind of tangram set with stickers is also great for travel! This one comes in animal tangram set or a transport vehicles set which could be super fun while traveling!
Talk about nostalgia!! These magnetic face toys were one thing I remember being in my road trip bag as a kid and we LOVED them! Oh the memories of giggling while creating crazy eyebrows, mustaches, goatees on these guys!
These magnetic drawing boards kept my kids pretty entertained in the car, they’re fun to make designs then click away as you erase and start over! Bonus- they come in three different colors; blue, red, and black so no one is fighting over which one belongs to them!
Fun Fidget Activities
Here is a fun dual fidget spinner pop-it that my kids love (pictured above left)
This pop-it push game is a family favorite, we ended up ordering multiple because mom and dad love to play, too! (pictured above right)
This fidget puzzle ball is another family fave we have multiple of because it’s fun and addictive
These are fun little fidget spinners with a twist- transformable arms! And they come in a 4-pack!
These pop-tube suction robots were the most fun to stick to the plane windows for a Florida trip a few years ago and have stuck around as a favorite to play with on road trips as well, and while finding the link we bought, I saw they have a monkey option, dinosaur option, fireman set and bunny rabbit set!
Travel Trivia
Guess in 10 has a ton of fun themed trivia games the whole family enjoys, you can find a topic for everyone! Most are geared toward ages 6+ but there are a few packs for younger kiddos, too!

Guess in 10 Junior for ages 3-6: Disney Princess Trivia, Food We Eat Trivia, 2-pack Combo Inside My House & Animals
Screen Free Entertainment
These LCD drawing/writing tablets have been a hit with my kiddos since they were little, and continue to be a source of fun as they get older.
These chalk marker erasable drawing pad journals are a favorite for both kids and great for all ages. Sometimes mine will write and/or illustrate a whole book by filling up each page, and sometimes they play tic-tac-toe by passing back and forth in the car, they also enjoyed simply doodling when they were younger! Endless possibilities - and so many fun themed covers!
Animal themed covers: Fish Teddy Bears Llamas Pink Koalas Silly Cats Green Dinosaurs
Mythical creature themed covers: Pink Mermaid Green Unicorn Red Unicorn Pink Unicorn
Wikki Stix -We first encountered these fun little sticks when a restaurant was handing them out instead of crayons to play with, and we’ve loved them ever since! We got the take along kit for a road trip, but there are so many to choose from, you can’t go wrong! Some we have enjoyed are the sea life pack, zoo animal pack, and the portable multicolor 24 pack
Sticker Activities
These “paint-by-sticker” books are awesome for travel because everything you need for the activity is in one spot and some are even reusable! No need for markers or crayons, and !bonus! they help with number, shape, color and letter recognition, hand-eye coordination and storytelling! These come in so many different styles. Some for younger kids come with puffy stickers easy for little hands, some with more intricate designs to keep older kiddos focused.
